The American Bar Association Section of Science & Technology Law is pleased to present its 4th National Institute on the Internet of Things. The Internet of Things (IOT) is defined as the billions of vehicles, buildings, process control devices, wearables, medical devices, drones, consumer/business products, mobile phones, tablets, and other “smart” objects that are wirelessly connecting to and communicating with each other. This new law practice area is raising unprecedented legal and liability issues, including privacy and cybersecurity of personal consumer and medical devices. This two day CLE program will discuss recent IoT developments, building blocks such as 5G, privacy and security, the government role in IoT policy and regulation, and more, including ethical issues.

The 2-day workshop will introduce you to the EuroPriSe certification scheme: You will learn about EuroPriSe criteria and procedures and train how to specify a target of evaluation (ToE) and to apply the certification criteria in the field. In addition, you will start to work on an exercise to be completed after the workshop, which is one important precondition for being admitted as a EuroPriSe Expert.

The workshop is a combination of classroom and group work and involves practical examples. You will deal with privacy use cases to apply what you have learned and to benefit from the professional exchange with other workshop participants.

EuroPriSe Workshop Enhancement @ Vieira de Almeida - Law Firm

The 1-day workshop is an invaluable forum for engaging with colleagues, advancing your skill levels, and gaining insight into the latest issues in data protection and privacy.

In general, workshop participants learn about EuroPriSe Best Practices, privacy relevant developments on EU level such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice and recent guidelines published by the European Data Protection Board.

This workshop will focus on the state of play regarding EuroPriSe’s efforts towards the acknowledgement of its certification scheme as an approved certification mechanism pursuant to Article 42 f. GDPR. Participants will be informed about a role change for the EuroPriSe Experts that will form part of the general revision of the certification scheme in light of Article 42 f. GDPR.
